Fragrances for Men

Smart Solutions : Episode SSL-716

Beauty expert Mandy Aftel shows how to create homemade fragrances for men with scents such as citrus, spices and herbs.

Perfume is made up of top, middle and base notes.

Base notes come from roots and barks and are heavy and intense.

Middle notes are milder and are derived from flowers and spices.

Top notes are crisp and light and come from herbs and citrus.

Jojoba oil is the carrier used in these homemade fragrances. It has no smell and doesn't go rancid. You can find it along with the other ingredients at most local health-food stores.

Citrus oils should be stored in the refrigerator.

15 drops vetiver oil (base note)

10 drops clary sage oil (middle note; used in aromatherapy to calm)
5 drops geranium oil (also a middle note; has a not-too-sweet floral scent)
20 drops lime oil (top note)
20 drops pink grapefruit oil (top note)

Steps:

Clean a dropper with rubbing alcohol.

Combine the oils in a clean container, rinsing the dropper with rubbing alcohol after each addition of oil.
